Jay Bawcom has no former connection with the school. But he worked at another school in the Kaptagat area for a year in 2000-1, and writes to say:

My knowledge of Kaptagat is only recent, and it looks like things have changed quite a bit. Of course, as you know the school is still there. I occasionally gave lifts to kids in Kap Prep uniforms, and I'm under the impression that it's one of the best schools in the area. Polo and golf are no longer played in the area - running is now the sport of choice. The old polo grounds serve as the site for the Keiyo district cross-country championships, so some of the best runners in the world have earned their stripes there. The Kaptagat Hotel is still in operation and was undergoing renovation last time I was on the premises. I never ventured down to the waterfall, although the runners I worked with always suggested taking me there. I think the gardens are still there along the river, and there are a few shops located along the road now.

Jay plans to return there to help the Athletics club he helped to found, web page www.chepkero.com
